The 31-year-old has been absent from the ring for almost two years, where he had a stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

Canadian Lo Greco, who knocked out the veteran Slawomir Ziemlewicz, to win the WBC International Welterweight Championship, has a 28-3 win record, including 15 knockouts.

Khan, who failed to dethrone Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez of his middleweight crown in May 2016, has a 31-4 win record with 19 knockouts.

The Bolton-born puncher has not fought in Britain since beating Julio Diaz in Sheffield in 2013.

Khan, who has buried the hatchet with Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn to sign a three-fight deal with Matchroom, admits watching high-profile fights in Britain from ringside partially motivated him to return.

“You look at these great fighters like Joshua cleaning up, doing really well, knocking guys out, selling out stadiums and I’m like, ‘Wow, this is where I want to be again’,” the 31-year-old said.

Lo Greco and Khan clashed at the launch press conference for the fight, where Lo Greco made comments about Khan’s personal life that riled the former unified Super-Lightweight king, and the Bolton ace says those comments and subsequent altercation lit a fire under him to get in great shape and deal with Lo Greco in brutal fashion on Merseyside.

“I am going to make a big statement on April 21,” said Khan. “I’m not going to make any mistakes. No fight is easy and I’m very focused on beating Phil and beating him well. The hard work has been done and I hope he’s in the best shape he’s ever been in – we gave him enough notice so there’s no excuses, he’s had 11 weeks so he better be looking good because I want to beat him badly at his best.

Adrien Broner vs. Jessie Vargas Fight Live

Boxing on Showtime takes center stage this Saturday in Brooklyn, New York, with a solid card headlined by the return of one of the most outspoken fighters in the sport: Adrien Broner. The return to the ring of the former four-division world champion highlights what should be an amazing tripleheader slate this weekend.

Broner (33-3, 24 KOs) takes on Jessie Vargas as he aims to get back on the winning track. Broner’s last outing in the ring was last July inside the same Barclays Center, and that resulted in a unanimous decision loss to Mikey Garcia. Now, Vargas (28-2, 10 KOs) looks to become the second consecutive competitor to put the stops to the outspoken Broner when they clash on Saturday in this catchweight bout.
