It was a beautiful day at Victoria National Golf Course just one day away from the first round of play of the United Leasing and Finance Championship. The top 25 players on the Web.com Tour money list at the end of the season get promoted to the big leagues. Every tournament and position counts.
Several of this year’s top players have embarked upon Victoria National. Sungjae Im is the current leader with $210,252 and has four top-11 finishes on Tour this year, including a victory in The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay.
On Wednesday, the pros had a chance to see the course one last time as some took part in the Evansville Tropicana Pro-Am. It was a chance for local amateur golfers to hit the links paired with a Web.com pro.
Now that the weather is cooperating, golfers took the day to focus on their game ahead of round one Thursday morning. But for some golfers, one of their favorite aspects of tournament week is taking place in the Pro-Am.
Make sure to download the 14 Sports app for continuing coverage of the ULFC at Victoria National, especially starting Thursday as round 1 of the tournament officially begins. A wet week combined with the challenging course at Victoria National Golf Club led to only four players under par in last year’s United Leasing & Finance Championship.
Conditions in the Evansville, Indiana suburb of Newburgh this time around should be better but still cool during the tournament, with temperatures only reaching into the mid-60s for most of the week. Players will be tested again, though, as Victoria National boasted three of the five toughest holes on the Web.com Tour last season.
